Our story - ethical coffee roasters in the Cotswolds
Founded in 2019 by Courtney Conroy and Callum Lister, Ritual Coffee Roasters began with a simple idea to elevate the coffee scene in Cheltenham and the wider Cotswolds, and now the rest of the UK.
Our approach has always been guided by three things: quality, fairness, and collaboration.
We source coffees through trusted, long-term relationships with producers who share our values - people committed to sustainability, transparency, and exceptional flavour. These connections mean we can select coffees that not only taste outstanding, but also tell a story of care and respect from farm to cup.
At our roastery in Cheltenham, Southwest England, we combine technical precision with craft intuition, Each batch is profiled, tested, and refined by us to bring out the best of every origin, ensuring consistency, sweetness, and balance across our range, from our core blends designed for our outstanding and consistent espresso, to our most distinctive seasonal lots and single origins.
But weβre not just about great coffee. Weβre about raising the bar for hospitality, helping our wholesale partners succeed through training, equipment guidance, and ongoing support because great coffee deserves to be served well.

We work transparently when it comes to sourcing coffee, choosing producers and sourcing partners who share our goal: exceptional coffee, produced with fairness at heart. Our relationships are built on trust and mutual respect, developed over time and, in many cases, in person.
Weβve visited many of the farms we work with, standing alongside producers who are as passionate about quality and sustainability as we are.
For us and for our partners, coffee is never a commodity. Weβre driven by quality, and we pay prices that not only reflect that value but also provide a sustainable income and future for farming communities.
We tend to work with smaller producers and co-operatives who emphasise social and environmental responsibility. Many of these farms lead their own initiatives, from reforestation projects to education and community welfare programmes, making a positive impact that extends far beyond the coffee itself.
At every stage, our goal is to build lasting relationships that celebrate the people, places, and processes behind every cup.

The Craft Behind our Coffee Roasting
All of our coffee is roasted in-house, giving us complete control over flavour, freshness, and quality. We roast on a 1980s Samiac drum roaster - a beautiful piece of engineering we rescued from a London roastery in 2018. By pairing this classic machine with modern roasting technology and data profiling, weβre able to combine tradition with precision, ensuring every batch highlights the unique character of its origin.
But the real craft lies with our roasting team. Every roast is carefully monitored, tasted, and refined by people who understand that consistency and quality come from attention to detail. From the first crack to the final cup, weβre guided by curiosity and care, always striving to bring out the best in every bean.
